I was born in the Ohio Valley, but I moved to western Pennsylvania as a toddler. Aside from college and graduate school, I have always been surrounded by mountains and hills. Perhaps that's why two of my favorite places to visit are Jackson Hole and Asheville, North Carolina.

Recommended Reading:

1. You, Inc.: The Art of Selling Yourself (Harry and Christine Beckwith)

Beckwith's best book yet. Wow, what a treasure trove. Practical and professional. I'm stalling so I don't finish it too soon. (Of course, I'll just re-read it).

2. Whatever You Think, Think the Opposite (Paul Arden)

Arden's second book in the same vein as his first, this one's more fun and more compelling. But it's equally visually appealing.

3. How to Become a Famous Writer Before You're Dead: Your Words in Print and Your Name in Lights (Ariel Gore)

Perhaps the funniest and most practical writing book ever. Certainly equally as clever as Stephen King's On Writing. Again, I'll be re-reading this one too.

4. Penguins and Golden Calves: Icons and Idols in Antarctica and Other Unexpected Places (Wheaton Literary Series) (Madeleine L'Engle)

My favorite writer hands down. A chronicle of her trip to Antarctica at age 74. An insightful treatise on icons and idols. (I'll miss you Madeleine, Rest In Peace)
